What are Master Planned Communities?
Master Planned Communities (MPC's) are large scale planned Real Estate Developments featuring a range of housing prices and styles, an array of resort amenities and multiple non-residential land uses, such as golf courses, marinas, retail, commercial, schools, restaurants and hotels/resorts. The combination offers residences an attractive and convenient environment in which to live, work and play. The majority of homes being built today are part of a Master-Planned Community.
Master-Planned Communities have popped up all over the Sunbelt and other popular destinations like Florida, Las Vegas, Texas, Colorado, South Carolina and Arizona. A recent trend is for developers to build, sell and then manage their own projects after completion. In some cases, they manage other developer's projects for a management fee. This is often the case with Resort lifestyle MPC's.
With the baby boomer reaching retirement and the popularity of these communities with the general public, the need is ever increasing for qualified real estate and hospitality professionals to fill key jobs in MPC's. There is a strong need for talented professionals from the development side (real estate) to the operations side (Hospitality) of the business. Some examples of jobs to be filled on the real estate end are Project Manager, Director of Development and Sales Manager. The focus of these positions is to build the community and sell it. Some examples of jobs on the hospitality end are Community General Manager, Club Managers and Executive Chef. These positions are key in running the community on a daily basis. Look for MPC's to continue to flourish, as well as, MPC's careers.
